Designer Application for Ankara Fest 2018

AFLA invites designers to submit an application to be featured in Ankara Fest LA 2018, August 31-September 2. Finalists will be notified by June 4th and required to submit any Designer and Vending fees within 60 days of acceptance.

Eligibility: All African and African inspired designers are open to apply for Ankara Festival 2018 taking place in Los Angeles, California the weekend of August 31st-September 2nd. Participation on September 1-2 are REQUIRED. 

Deadline: Applications must be postmarked by May 27, 2018. Submissions received after the postmarked date will be returned along with the application fee.

●    All designers must acknowledge that they have fully read and understood the instructions for submission by signing at the bottom of both pages. 
●    Applicants must submit 3-5 picture samples of their work with the two-page application form. (Colored photos are highly advised. Remember this is your chance to showcase your designs.)
●    Upon receipt of all applications, the Ankara Festival design producers will review applications and based on an approved set of criteria, designers will receive an overall ranking. The criteria are but not limited to: creativity, innovation, marketability, construction and quality.
●    Each designer is only allowed ONE personal assistant.

Fees: A $600 application fee will be required by the CHOSEN applicants. Each chosen designer will be given until August 4th to make the full payment which goes towards the complete production of the showcase.  This includes but is not limited to models, hair & make-up, photography and promo video services. This fee does NOT include the cost of food, hotel and transportation. However, recommendations at often a discounted rate will be available. .

Designers will be responsible for their own housing accommodations, transportation and food while in Los Angeles. Suggested hotel accommodations will be provided to the selected designers.

Designers will be responsible for necessary hangers, steamers and other garment organizational equipment.

Payments are to be made via PayPal, money order, cashier’s checks, or direct deposit into Ankara Fest LA BOA acct. NO cash accepted. A receipt of the application fee will be provided along with your response notice.
